Jo-Anne & Quin

Jo-Anne & Quin

Hearing Team | Ottawa, ON

Jo-Anne from Ottawa loves to travel, bake and scrapbook. She is a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and has taken care of more than 200 children and fostered 75 children, and adopted one child. Jo-Anne and her Dog Guide Quin recently graduated from the Hearing Ear program through Lions Foundation of Canada dog Guides. Having the support of Quin, Jo-Anne is able to have support and “new ears” in her daily life.

“Quin helps me to get through the day by hearing things that I cannot. I am not afraid anymore to go for simple walk. She alerts me when someone calls me or if the phone or doorbell ring. I have peace of mind now,” Jo-Anne remarks, “Unless you are deaf you have no idea how much fear you have in simple everyday life.”

Why do Dog Guides need you support? “I know that there are other people out there that would benefit from having a Dog Guide. There are still so many in need. They are your new ears or eyes, your companion, and a relentless giver of unconditional love,” Says Jo-Anne.
